The Red Lion is located in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside on the A36 from Salisbury to Warminster. We are located on the river Wyle which runs at the bottom of our 1 acre beer garden. The pub burnt down in 1954 and was then rebuilt.Stewart and i purchased the pub on 31st August 2006 with out two sons Luke and Oliver. We have been in the trade for 12 years and decided to move from a town centre pub to a village pub. We closed the Red Lion immediately for complete re-furbishment and we finally re-opened on December 1st 2006. Everything has been completly replaced including 4 letting rooms, kitchen, dining room and all the other fixtures and fittings. We are now entering our third year and we have started to re-decorate some areas.
The entrance up to the rooms has been re-decorated and we have just purchased new landing and stair carpet.
We have also purchased a disabled ramp this year to help some of our less abled customers to enter with ease.
Myself and my Husband Stewart have been in the licensing trade for 11 Years in which time we have learnt from the bottom to the top.
I am the cook of the two of us and Stewart is front of house. We have two small boys aged 12 and 7 and they love living in the clean air and beautiful countryside of this wonderful village. Due to us having a small family we really wanted to encourage parent's to bring there chldren to eat day or night and enjoy the surroundings, we offer colouring to all our smaller guests and if there are residents we have a large childrens collection of DVD's for rent.
So far since we have opened we have been awarded 4 starts from The English Tourist Board for our Accommodation, this is for 2007, 2008, and just recently 2009. Cask Mark for our Quality Ale and we have just been awarded Best Pub Food 2007 in our area.
